How often should you get a haircut? It depends on your cut
Every two weeks or every five? The answer depends on how short you go and how sharp you like it. Here's a simple guide.

It's one of the questions we hear most: how often should I come in? The honest answer is that it depends on your cut. Hair grows around half an inch a month, and the shorter you go, the sooner that half inch shows.
Skin fades: every two to three weeks
A skin fade looks its best in the first week or so. By the end of the second week the skin part has grown in and the blend starts to soften. If you like your fade sharp, book every two weeks. If you don't mind it a little softer, three weeks is fine.
Short haircuts and tapers: every three to four weeks
A short clipper cut or a taper grows out more gently, because there's no bare skin to give it away. Most people with these cuts come in every three to four weeks. Your neckline is usually the first thing to look untidy, so if that bothers you, lean toward three.
Longer cuts: every four to six weeks
If you keep some length on top and at the sides, you can go longer between cuts. Four to six weeks keeps the shape without losing the length you're growing. Coming in on a regular rhythm also helps if you're growing your hair out, because a small trim keeps it looking intentional while it gets there.
Beards: every two to four weeks
A beard trim and line-up keeps the shape and the edges clean. Short, sharp beards need it more often, around every two weeks. Fuller beards can go three or four. In between, a few drops of beard oil keep it soft and easier to manage.
Make it easy on yourself
- Book your next visit before you forget. If you know you like a fresh fade every two weeks, pick your next time as soon as you're home.
- Stick with one barber. They'll remember what you had and how you like it, so there's less explaining each time.
- Plan around big days. For a wedding, a job interview or photos, book a few days before rather than the day of, so the cut has a moment to settle.
Kids grow fast too
Kids' hair grows at about the same speed, but most kids don't mind it a bit longer. Every four to six weeks works for most families, and sooner before school photos.
Whatever your rhythm, you can book online any time, pick your barber, or choose whoever's free first if you just need a cut soon.
